The AWS Well-Architected Framework Review (WAFR) allows you to evaluate cloud workloads against best practices. The MontyCloud DAY2 platform can aid you to efficiently conduct WAFRs to identify compliance risks, generate improvement recommendations, and automate remediation. This helps MSPs manage cloud workloads, follow best practices, standardize knowledge, and in turn help their account organizations to maintain secure, efficient, and reliable cloud environments This helps MSPs to manage cloud workloads, follow best practices, standardizes knowledge, and in turn help their account organizations to maintain secure, efficient and reliable cloud environments.
The MontyCloud DAY2 WAFR is based on the following six pillars that form the foundation of the evaluation:
Operational Excellence: Automates operations, conducts routine tasks, and ensures efficient workload management (for example - create regular server snapshots).
Security: Enforces encryption, provides strict access controls, and follows security best practices. For example - encrypt S3 buckets, set proper inbound/outbound rules and so on.
Reliability: Set up disaster recovery, replication, and monitoring to ensure high availability and quick recovery from failures.
Performance Efficiency: Optimizes speed and responsiveness, monitors performance and utilizes appropriate resources.
Cost Optimization: Continuously optimizes resource usage to reduce costs (e.g., use newer, cheaper AWS resources). 6
Sustainability: Fosters the use of efficient, eco-friendly resources to minimize environmental impact. For example - Graviton processor usage and so on.
The MontyCloud DAY2 WAFR Review Process
The WAFR review process broadly follows the process as mentioned below:
Create a new review in MontyCloud DAY2 Platform and selecting the AWS region for assessment.
Specify the review owner and select the appropriate lens
Choose the account type - (Production or pre-production)
Define scope allows you to pick multiple accounts or specific projects
Initiate the review and analyze the review findings, answer pillar-specific questions, and begin remediation or suppression of issues based on specific needs.
