MontyCloud integrates with AWS Billing Conductor to streamline billing processes, allowing partners to manage customer billing groups, pricing plans, and credit assignments from a single dashboard. This ensures consistency between Monty Cloud, AWS Cost Explorer, and customer invoices, reducing discrepancies and manual effort.

Billing Groups and Pricing Plans

Billing groups represent individual customers or entities, and pricing plans define the rules for calculating customer charges, including uplifts or discounts. Each customer or group of accounts can have a unique billing group and associated pricing plan, supporting both shared and dedicated AWS organizations.

Credit and Discount Management

Monty Cloud enables selective assignment of AWS credits and discounts. Service providers can choose which credits to pass through to customers (e.g., well-architected credits) and which to retain (e.g., SPP discounts). This is automated through custom line items, simplifying monthly reconciliation and ensuring accurate invoicing.

Support Charges and Additional Uplifts

Support charges are removed by default but can be added back for customers if needed. Providers can also apply a percentage uplift (commission) to customer charges, which is managed through pricing rules in MontyCloud.

Testing and Cost Considerations

Using AWS Billing Conductor incurs a monthly fee per account in a billing group. The team recommends starting with a small test group to evaluate the process and costs before a full rollout.

Customer Access and Reporting

Customers can access their cost dashboards in MontyCloud, which reflect all adjustments made by the provider. The platform also generates detailed margin reports for internal use, supporting transparent and efficient billing operations.
