MSPs use reports to view consolidated billing, margins, and cost allocation across multiple accounts and billing groups. Cost dashboards show pro forma costs for each tenant, reflecting the actual bill customers receive from the MSP, not the AWS actual costs. Reports can be exported for financial teams to generate invoices, including all assigned credits, discounts, and marketplace charges.
MontyCloud generates a monthly margin report that consolidates data for all customers, showing AWS costs, customer charges, usage, marketplace usage, support charges, and calculated profit per customer.
The report provides detailed breakdowns by customer, billing group, and individual accounts, supporting invoice preparation and internal financial analysis.
Customers have access to live dashboards in MontyCloud reflecting their adjusted costs, including all provider-applied credits, discounts, and uplifts.
The reporting automatically switches to use pro forma cost data when billing conductor is configured, ensuring consistency with the AWS billing structure.
Select the Management Dashboard > Reports tab. The following reports are available:
Monthly Margin Report: This internal report provides a comprehensive overview for each customer, including AWS cost, what was billed to the customer (pro forma cost), usage details, marketplace usage, support charges, RI and savings plan charges, SPP discounts, and calculated profit. It breaks down data by customer, billing group, and individual accounts, making it easier to prepare invoices and analyze margins.
Customer Dashboard: Customers have access to a live dashboard in MontyCloud that displays their adjusted costs. This dashboard reflects all changes made by the provider, such as applied credits, discounts, uplifts, and support charges, ensuring customers see the same numbers as in their invoices and AWS Cost Explorer.
Cost and Usage Data Export: MontyCloud uses AWS cost and usage reports (CUR) for its data source. When billing conductor is enabled, the reporting automatically switches to pro forma cost data, ensuring all reports and dashboards are consistent with AWS billing adjustments.
