When integrating AWS Billing Conductor with MontyCloud, several operational and technical limitations should be considered to ensure effective billing management and cost control. A few key limitations and constraints of this integration are listed below:
AWS Billing Conductor is not as seamless as some third-party tools; for example, it does not allow selective credit assignment to customers without additional tooling.
The migration and setup of billing groups are not automated during onboarding; manual setup is required for each customer or account.
Customers with access to their own AWS management accounts may see billing group configurations, which could expose margin details unless access is restricted.
The AWS Billing Conductor charges a flat fee per account added to a billing group, which can quickly increase costs if many accounts are included.
Note: The fees are not refunded if accounts are removed. Some actions, such as selective credit pass-through and support charge adjustments, must be handled manually or through Monty Cloud’s added features, as Billing Conductor does not natively support these.
Assigning credits in MontyCloud is only possible after AWS closes the month to ensure data accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
