When integrating AWS Billing Conductor with MontyCloud, several operational and technical limitations should be considered to ensure effective billing management and cost control. A few key limitations and constraints of this integration are listed below:

  • AWS Billing Conductor is not as seamless as some third-party tools; for example, it does not allow selective credit assignment to customers without additional tooling.

  • The migration and setup of billing groups are not automated during onboarding; manual setup is required for each customer or account.

  • Customers with access to their own AWS management accounts may see billing group configurations, which could expose margin details unless access is restricted.

  • The AWS Billing Conductor charges a flat fee per account added to a billing group, which can quickly increase costs if many accounts are included.
Note: The fees are not refunded if accounts are removed.

  • Some actions, such as selective credit pass-through and support charge adjustments, must be handled manually or through Monty Cloud’s added features, as Billing Conductor does not natively support these.

  • Assigning credits in MontyCloud is only possible after AWS closes the month to ensure data accuracy and prevent discrepancies.
